Why global warming won't be stopped

Basically, it will come down to the fact that it's too expensive. That's not really an excuse for not solving a problem that will dramatically alter the planet in irreversibly destructive ways, but it's likely to be the excuse that politicians around the world will use to pass the buck off to someone else.
