I'm currently sitting in the airport at Seattle waiting to board the flight to Maui, but I'd like to recall something I heard on the flight from Newark here. A person seated in the row behind me on the plane stated that the flight was 2,000 miles (wrong) and was 1/8th of the distance around the world (also wrong).
The people he was speaking to didn't correct him, but perhaps it was because he spoke the aforementioned untruths with such conviction.

Maybe his view on the world is 33% smaller than ours.
Have fun in Maui!
